The Chinese Communist Party may be conducting a widespread intelligence campaign at Stanford University in the Bay Area of California, according to an investigation recently published in the Stanford Review.
The investigation states that the alleged espionage operations at one of the most prestigious universities in the US are carried out, among other things, in the fields of artificial intelligence and robotics.
According to records, this is how the Chinese regime is able to get its hands on technologies and information that China cannot legally obtain due to U.S. export control laws and other factors.
The investigation presented the case of Charles Chen, a suspected agent of the Chinese Communist Party who posed as a student at Stanford University. According to allegations, he encouraged students to use platforms monitored by the Chinese regime, such as WeChat, during their research.
In response, a Stanford University spokesperson told NTD News, among other things: "Stanford takes its commitment to national security very seriously, and we are well aware of the threats posed by the Chinese Communist Party to all research universities. Stanford has strict policies and procedures to ensure that research conducted by faculty and students is conducted in a manner that protects U.S. interests."
