Reports from Syria indicate that American soldiers were wounded in a shooting incident in the city of Tadmur (Palmyra) in central Syria, in what is believed to be an attack linked to ISIS. The wounded US troops were evacuated by helicopter following the incident.
According to reports, a US military force entered the ancient city of Tadmur on a joint patrol with forces from the Syrian army loyal to the Jolani regime, when a gunman opened fire on the patrol.
Three American soldiers were wounded and evacuated to the US base at al-Tanf, approximately 120 kilometers away. One soldier from the Jolani regime’s forces was killed, and another was seriously wounded. No group has yet claimed responsibility. Residents also reported US fighter jets flying over the city in the minutes following the attack.
