The U.S. envoy leading nuclear talks with Iran, Steve Witkoff, warned that if Sunday's fourth round of negotiations in Oman fails, "they won't continue, and we'll have to take a different route."
Witkoff, also a senior adviser to President Trump, said the U.S. will not accept any deal that permits Iran to enrich uranium — a key flaw, he said, of the 2015 Obama-era deal.
Iran is reportedly stockpiling enriched uranium at near-weapons-grade levels, prompting Witkoff to declare a hard line: “No enrichment. That means dismantlement.” He said Iran must dismantle all enrichment facilities — Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan — and downblend its current stockpile if it truly does not want a bomb.
Witkoff stressed that the talks are focused solely on the nuclear issue, unlike the first Trump administration which also pushed Iran on its proxy terror support. “We don’t want to confuse the nuclear discussion because that... needs to be solved today and quickly,” he said.
