Minister Amichai Shikli draws the first map of the buffer zone that he believes should be established in southern Lebanon.ย
Shikli published a long analysis on the X network in which he explained, among other things, that Lebanon "does not meet the definition of a state. In the absence of a monopoly on the exercise of force both internally and externally, the Lebanese government is not a sovereign entity."
Shikli explains that the border line with Lebanon originally established in the Sykes and Pico agreements has ceased to be relevant. Because of this, and after Israel was forced to evacuate tens of thousands of residents from their homes for fear of a ground invasion of an Iranian militia into its territory, "a new route must be calculated regarding the border line with the entity that calls itself the State of Lebanon.
A renewed buffer zone, free of enemy population is the order of the hour, and this is the right and just thing the most to do both from a security point of view, both from a political point of view and from a moral point of view."
