Abu Ibrahim says Muslims in the West should reject identification with Western civilization and view Islam as an exclusive, all-encompassing system.
Canadian Islamic scholar and content creator Abu Ibrahim said many Muslims living in Western countries mistakenly see themselves as part of the Western “civilizational project” and contribute to its values.
In a June 18 video, Abu Ibrahim, an instructor with the i3 Institute Islamic advocacy organization, argued that such Muslims forget that Islam represents a separate civilizational project.
He said Islam must define every aspect of a Muslim’s life, including religion, nationality, politics and society. According to Abu Ibrahim, Islam is “totally exclusive and hegemonic” and cannot be reconciled with Western ideas rooted in Enlightenment and Christian traditions.
