An American magazine revealed new trainings of the Lebanese Hezbollah militia at the Syrian Air Force base Aldemir - Al-Damir, northeast of the capital Damascus, with the aim of harming American forces in Syria.
According to the American Long War Journal, the so-called "Golan Unit" under the command of the Lebanese Hezbollah conducts training at the Aldemir base, located 45 km northeast of the capital Damascus, with the aim of attacking American forces in northeastern Syria.
The site revealed that the unit is headed by a commander in Hezbollah, Musa Ali Daqdouk, who was classified on the terrorist list by the United States, due to his role in forming and supporting the militias affiliated with Iran, responsible for killing American soldiers in Iraq.
Daqdouk is considered one of the most important commanders of Hezbollah and a senior advisor to the commander of the Asaib Ahl al-Haq militia and its commander Qais al-Khazali in Iraq. He was arrested by American forces in Basra, Iraq, on March 20, 2007, along with Qais al-Khazali and his brother Laith al-Khazali.
Daqdouk contributed to the establishment of other Iranian militias, such as Hezbollah Iraq, which has been on the list of terrorist organizations of the United States since 2008.
In 2007, the US Army arrested Daqdouk, after 11 months he was transferred to a detention center on the Iraqi side, before being released in 2012, after being acquitted of terrorism charges. He was released and then returned to Lebanon and was tasked with training Hezbollah's special forces.
In 2019, the IDF claimed that Daqdouk was in command of the "Golan Unit", a military infrastructure active in southern Syria, whose purpose was to establish a militia there against Israel under the responsibility of Hezbollah, under the auspices of the Syrian regime and supported by Iran.
