Israel carried out an unusual wave of airstrikes last night across multiple regions in Syria, targeting weapons depots, advanced systems, and even Russian-made air defense platforms under maintenance.
The first strikes hit near Homs, north of Damascus, where an air defense battalion and an ammunition warehouse linked to the Syrian Air Defense Academy were destroyed. According to Syrian reports, the depots stored new weapons recently delivered to President Ahmed al-Sharaa’s regime.
Additional attacks were reported near Latakia on the Mediterranean coast, including the “Skoubin” military camp where Russian Pantsir air defense systems were undergoing repairs. Local sources claimed that foreign military personnel were among the casualties.
The IDF confirmed it struck Syrian missile and ammunition depots and an air defense base. Witnesses said Israeli aircraft continued flying over Tartus, Latakia, Daraa, and Quneitra throughout the night. Fires broke out in several areas, and ambulances flooded Homs after the strike on the air defense school.
