Egyptian researcher: Hatred of Israel is a badge of honor
A senior researcher at Egypt’s influential Al-Ahram Center openly praised widespread hatred of Israel in Egyptian society and within Al-Azhar, Sunni Islam’s most important religious institution.
The head of the institute’s Israeli-Palestinian studies program published an article responding to accusations that Egypt’s official media and Al-Azhar promote anti-Israel and even antisemitic rhetoric.
Rather than rejecting the allegations, he embraced them.
He argued that Egyptians do indeed hate Israel and are proud of that hatred, describing it as “a disease Egyptians do not want to recover from.”
