The Syrian drug industry did not die with the fall of Assad, but merely moved
Until last December, Syria was the undisputed center of the Captagon industry in the region – with the blessing of the Assad regime.

With the collapse of his rule, dozens of laboratories were destroyed and now it seems that the industry did not die but moved south to another bloody center – Sudan.
In February 2025, Sudanese military forces took control of the refinery area in Jaili, north of Khartoum, and uncovered an advanced Captagon factory with active industrial equipment. Near the machines were found packages and shipments that read: “Made in Syria”.
Next to one of the machines were found boxes with labels from a shipping company based in Dubai.
