When it comes to ceasefire negotiations, Israelis have spoken about simply ending the war, resuming the fighting at a later date, or bringing the hostages back and then returning to operate in Gaza.
But according to what’s currently on the table, Israel gets all the hostages back while still remaining in the vast majority of the Gaza Strip—and only then entering negotiations for IDF withdrawals that are conditional on Hamas disarming.
Indeed, Donald Trump confirmed just that last night. Sharing the above map on social media, he said that once Hamas agrees to the initial withdrawal line, “the Ceasefire will be IMMEDIATELY effective, the Hostages and Prisoner Exchange will begin, and we will create the conditions for the next phase of withdrawal.”
