According to the report, Saudi Arabia is authorizing the US to establish a military base on the Tiran and Sanfir islands that were transferred to its sovereignty from Egypt under a 2016 agreement.
According to the report, the purpose of the base is for the US military to monitor the passage of ships through the Suez Canal and prevent the entry of any suspicious ship that could be used to transport weapons and military equipment to the Gaza Strip or Lebanese territory, especially those coming from Iran.
It should be noted that the islands are at the entrance to the Straits of Tiran, which connect the Gulf of Eilat to the Red Sea.
