Qatari writers, journalists and religious figures responded to the assassination of Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades commander Izz al-Din al-Haddad by openly praising him and calling for Hamas’s armed struggle against Israel to continue.
The reactions presented al-Haddad as a “martyr” and a symbol of resistance, while stressing that his death would not weaken Hamas’s path. Several posts argued that the October 7 attacks had achieved “strategic goals,” while Israel’s gains were described as merely “tactical.”
One Qatari journalist wrote that al-Haddad’s assassination would become “fuel” for a more aggressive conflict against Israel. Another claimed that every child at his funeral was a potential replacement, suggesting that the next generation should continue the same path.
A member of the Qatar-backed International Union of Muslim Scholars wrote that “the convoy of martyrs continues,” while another Qatari-linked writer said Gaza would continue “until Palestine is liberated.”
