Nearly 100,000 Iranians signed a petition within 24 hours demanding that the regime’s ultraconservative politicians personally visit the southern war zone they have helped create.
IRAN INTERNATIONAL -- Public anger is growing in Iran against hardline politicians who oppose negotiations with the US while remaining safely away from the areas suffering repeated attacks.
The petition specifically calls on prominent members of the extremist Paydari Front, including lawmakers Hamid Rasaei and Amirhossein Sabeti, to travel to Sirik and Bandar Abbas.
Residents of southern Iran have endured repeated strikes, threats to civilian infrastructure and severe economic disruption as the conflict continues. The petition argues that politicians who demand a wartime posture should experience the consequences of their policies firsthand.
