Netanyahu Orders Forceful Retaliation in Lebanon Following Fatal Hezbollah Attack.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sent his deepest condolences to the families of Lt. Col. Dor Gedalia Ben Simhon—commander of the 52nd Armored Battalion—and the three additional soldiers killed in a recent Hezbollah strike. The Prime Minister also extended his prayers for the full recovery of the wounded.
Characterizing the attack as an intolerable breach of the ceasefire, Netanyahu directed the IDF to respond with overwhelming force.
In the hours following the order, the IDF struck more than 80 terrorist targets, killed dozens of operatives, and targeted Hezbollah command structures deep within the Beqaa Valley.
Netanyahu issued a stark warning, declaring that Israel will remain entrenched in the southern Lebanon security zone for as long as it takes to ensure the safety of northern residents.
