The newspaper Al-Sharq al-Awast reported that Egypt managed to convince Israel to start producing gas in a field located off the coast of the Gaza Strip, while cooperating with the Palestinian Authority.
The newspaper reported that there is progress in negotiations between Egypt, the PA and Israel regarding the production of gas from the field that was discovered in 2000, but so far it has not been used due to disagreements between the parties regarding the production of gas.
According to the report, Egypt informed the Palestinian Authority that Israel agrees that gas will be produced by foreign private companies, under the supervision of Egypt and Israel, when Israel and Egypt will export the gas and part of the profits will go to the Palestinian Authority.
