Speakers at the 2026 Khilafa (Caliphate) Conference hosted by Hizb ut Tahrir Canada proclaimed that the existing global order is weakening and that the establishment of an Islamic caliphate is inevitable. The event was streamed live on January 17, 2026 via the Waqiyah Live Facebook platform.
An unnamed emcee opened the conference by asserting that the world order is “stumbling” and that the Islamic nation’s return to what he described as authentic Islam is unavoidable. He framed current international instability as evidence that a fundamental transformation is underway.
A speaker identified as “Brother Abu Ammar,” described as a Hizb ut Tahrir member involved in outreach and youth engagement, claimed that the Islamic nation represents the future of humanity. He declared that “victory is coming,” stating that this outcome had been promised by the Prophet Muhammad, and said that the current era of what he called tyrannical rule would be replaced by the caliphate.
Another speaker, introduced as “Ustadh Abu Ammar” and described as an Islamic scholar, sharply criticized Saudi Arabia’s recent changes to its school curricula. He argued that the concept of jihad had been distorted to mean only internal self-struggle, that material critical of Jews and Christians had been removed, and that teachings requiring women to obey their husbands, along with homophobic content, had been eliminated. He rejected “moderate Islam” as a foreign invention, insisting it contradicts Islam, and proclaimed that the “light of Islam” would prevail with the return of the caliphate.
