Last Warsaw Ghetto Uprising Survivor Dies at 97

The last known surviving person to have fought in the 1944 Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, Leon Kopelman, passed away on Friday at age 97.
After fighting the Nazis in the Uprising, he joined the Polish resistance several months later and survived the war. In 1948, Leon joined the IDF and also fought in the War of Independence.
He later married and built a large family in Israel, adding that this was his "greatest victory" against the Nazis.
