It is a sad day when Israel’s own media behaves more like Al Jazeera than like defenders of Israeli society in wartime.
Over the past months, we have witnessed a disturbing pattern: Israeli news outlets—especially their social media accounts—have become amplifiers of Hamas’s talking points, broadcasting every claim, statement, or accusation from the terror group, often without scrutiny, context, or verification.
Even more alarming is that these statements are not always coming from Hamas's senior leadership or even official spokesmen. Many times, they are random activists, self-proclaimed "journalists" in Gaza, or accounts known for spreading lies and staged footage. Yet, Israeli media platforms eagerly repackage these statements and rush them to the public, feeding our own people a diet of Hamas propaganda, deception, and psychological warfare.
What purpose does this serve? Israel is in an existential battle against an enemy whose strategy is as much about manipulating global opinion and demoralizing Israeli society as it is about rockets and tunnels. When Israeli media gives megaphones to Hamas lies, they become complicit in the enemy’s psychological warfare. They sow confusion, fear, and despair in Israeli society while giving legitimacy to the narratives of terrorists.
