John Hurley, US Under Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, stated in an interview that “Iran managed to transfer around $1 billion to Hezbollah this year despite a series of Western sanctions that hit its economy.”
The US has maintained its “maximum pressure” campaign against Tehran to curb its uranium enrichment program and regional influence, including in Lebanon, where Hezbollah’s power—backed by Iran—has declined.
