Hysteria grips not only Iran's intelligence establishment but also the economic and banking system. On Monday, the Iranian authorities announced that they would cut off access to the local banking system to citizens living abroad and to foreigners, for fear of cyber attacks.
According to a report by the Iranian official news agency, the restriction of access from abroad to banks, including Internet services and applications, comes after a recommendation by the competent authorities in order to prevent cyber attacks. According to the report, this is a temporary restriction.
It will be recalled that about a week ago a cyber attack struck one of the largest steel plants in Iran. Responsibility for the attack was taken by an unknown hacker group.
