In an interview with the evangelical Christian network DayStar, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused Qatar of promoting anti-Israel messages through Al Jazeera and U.S. universities. He called on Qatar to “choose a side,” saying it can’t “fight alongside both arsonists and firefighters."
The interview was conducted by evangelist Paula White, head of Trump’s "Faith Office," during Netanyahu’s recent visit to Washington but aired only this week.
Netanyahu’s comments appear to contradict a recent statement where he defended his aide, Jonathan Urich, amid the “Qatargate” scandal, saying Qatar is “not a simple country but not an enemy either.”
In the interview, Netanyahu criticized what he called the "shutting down of minds" on elite U.S. campuses: “They teach young people to reverse the truth—Israel is seen as the problem in the Middle East, when in fact it is the solution.”
