Hamas condemns US-backed UN Security Council resolution establishing Gaza peacekeeping force, backtracks on support for Trump’s peace plan, claiming it only accepted phase one of the deal
The Hamas terror organization on Tuesday denounced the United Nations Security Council resolution formally adopting President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan, while a spokesman for the group claimed that Hamas never accepted phase two of the plan.
Following the UN Security Council’s vote approving Resolution 2803, mandating the establishment of the Board of Peace and the International Stabilization Force, Hamas’ leadership issued a statement condemning the measure and rejecting demands that it disarm.
“The decision imposes international guardianship over the Strip, which we reject,” Hamas said. “It imposes a mechanism meant to assist the occupation in achieving the objectives it failed to achieve in the war.”
