In message to the American people, the prime minister praised the historic alliance between Israel and the United States and declared that freedom will defeat tyranny.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu congratulated the American people on the 250th anniversary of US independence, describing America as the greatest force for liberty the world has ever known.
Netanyahu recalled that exactly 50 years ago, as the United States celebrated its bicentennial, Israel carried out the legendary Entebbe hostage-rescue operation. His brother, Yoni Netanyahu, commanded the mission and was the only Israeli soldier killed.
The prime minister said the courage displayed at Entebbe represents the same determination Israeli and American troops have repeatedly shown while confronting those who threaten freedom.
