Syriac Union Party President Ibrahim Murad: Hezbollah leaders should be tried for treason and hanged; The Lebanese Army should disarm Hezbollah even at the cost of a military confrontation.
Ibrahim Murad, president of the Lebanese Syriac Union Party, said in an interview posted on Lebanon On (YouTube) on April 3, 2025, that Hezbollah shouldn’t become a political party. He stated that its leaders should be tried for high treason in a military court and hanged.
In response to a question about whether he supports the Lebanese Army disarming Hezbollah even at the cost of a military confrontation, he replied that the Army’s mission is to confront militias - because either there are militias, or there is a state.
He said that Lebanese Christians will do everything they can to support the Army and help it stand on its feet - and if what happened in 1975, referring to the civil war, should happen again, then Christians will defend themselves.
