The Lebanese government has reportedly imposed a complete ban on any activity by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps inside Lebanon, declaring that IRGC operations in the country will be treated as a criminal offense.
Lebanese security forces have been instructed to monitor, arrest and transfer for prosecution any IRGC member found operating on Lebanese territory. The reported order represents a direct challenge to Iran’s longstanding interference in Lebanon and to the infrastructure Tehran built through Hezbollah and other affiliated networks.
The decision, if fully enforced, could mark a significant shift in Lebanon’s attempt to restore state sovereignty and prevent Iranian operatives from using the country as a base for military, intelligence and terrorist activity. Its real impact will depend on whether the Lebanese authorities are willing and able to act against IRGC personnel and networks protected by Hezbollah.
