Panamanian authorities confirmed the arrest in Venezuela of Ali Zaki Hage Jalil, a citizen wanted for a terrorist attack perpetrated more than three decades ago against a commercial airliner that killed its 21 occupants, mostly members of the Jewish community.
The National Central Bureau of Interpol Panama said in an official statement that it received confirmation of the arrest by Interpol Caracas. Jalil was apprehended on November 6 on Margarita Island, Nueva Esparta state, Venezuela.
The suspect maintains an Interpol red notice at the request of the Superior Prosecutor's Office of Discharge of Panama for crimes against life and personal integrity, intentional homicide and crimes against collective security and means of transport and communication, according to the statement.
