The journalist Barak Ravid reports that the United States is actively working to broker an agreement between Israel and Syria for the creation of a humanitarian corridor to the city of al-Suwayda in southern Syria.
According to the report, the corridor would be intended to facilitate the safe transfer of humanitarian aid to the region, which has been facing severe shortages of essential supplies.
Al-Suwayda, a predominantly Druze area, has seen growing humanitarian needs due to the prolonged conflict in Syria and its economic collapse. Washington’s efforts reportedly aim to secure cooperation from both Jerusalem and Damascus in order to allow aid convoys to pass through safely, potentially reducing tensions in the sensitive southern Syrian border area.
NEWSRAEL: Missing from this report: This is a very strategic gain for Israel, giving it a way to safeguard against Jihadi elements near the border.
