Israelโs Ministry of Environmental Protection is continuing with its efforts to deal with all manner of pollution even during the time of war.
To that end, the ministry held what it described as an “extensive” enforcement activity against motor vehicle noise hazards in Israeli cities, carried out together with the Israel Police.
The enforcement was conducted on Sunday in Wadi Ara area in northern Israel and along the north-south running Highway 4, with an emphasis on motor vehicles causing loud noise and panic among the public because such noises can sound like gunshots.
115 vehicles were taken off the road.
Since the beginning of the wain Gaza, the Israel Police has received hundreds of complaints and reports of alarm-like noise or gunfire emanating from vehicles. This kind of noise is caused by an illegal mechanical change in the exhaust pipe.
Minister of Environmental Protection Idit Silman: “Even during fighting, and precisely these days, any noise stresses us and sounds like gunshots, explosions or alarms, we continue to work to protect the environment and the quality of life of the public and carry out targeted enforcement activities against noisy vehicles that harm our quality of life.”
