The government has approved a wide-ranging assistance and recognition plan for Israel’s reserve soldiers for 2026, totaling NIS 6.2 billion. The framework includes grants and a broad support package of benefits, compensation and assistance for reservists and their families.
Under agreements between the Defense Ministry and the Finance Ministry, the benefits structure will be adjusted to the planned duration of reserve service in 2026, in line with ongoing operational assessments and wartime needs.
As part of this framework, the Israel Defense Forces will implement significant efficiency measures in its use of reserve forces during 2026. A reservist serving at the battalion level will be called up for active duty for up to 55 days in total during the year, subject to operational requirements and any deterioration in the security situation. The average daily number of reservists on duty is expected not to exceed 40,000.
