During the visit, the Chief of Staff spoke with the fighters in the field, expressing his appreciation for their offensive operations against Hamas violations and emphasizing that they must be on high alert, continue to strive for contact and thwart any threat in order to protect the residents of the State of Israel.

Chief of Staff, Lt. Col. Eyal Zamir, said: "In 2025, the IDF achieved unprecedented achievements, most notably a severe blow to the Hamas organization, the destruction of all its frontline units, the removal of the threat as we experienced on October 7, and the return of all the living hostages to their homes. We are working to return the last hostage, the late Lt. Col. Ran Goyali, for burial in Israel, thus closing the chapter on the return of the hostages from Gaza." 

"The year 2026 will be a crucial year in shaping the security reality of the State of Israel. Our determination to disarm Hamas is complete. We will not allow the Hamas terrorist organization to rebuild its power and threaten us." 

"We are on the Yellow Line, controlling the line of territories that control the Gaza Strip - this is a new security border. The Yellow Line is an improved defensive contact line and a quick launch base for an attack. We will act and take advantage of opportunities to weaken Hamas - the forces must be on alert and ready for turns." 

"In recent months, we have begun to deepen our engagement in building a multi-year plan and rewriting the IDF strategy. We will not return to the period before October 7th." 

"This week we concluded the investigations of the October Seven. Their lessons will be translated and assimilated in the field. A series of teams have been appointed to implement the lessons and assimilate them as part of the IDF strategy. You will continue to lead with initiative and offensiveness, with a forward-looking approach to shaping the security reality in all arenas."
