The fear of Russian aid to the Houthis, and the letter from the top US commander: "We are failing in the deterrent mission"
The "Wall Street Journal" reports: General Eric Korilla, commander of the US Central Command, called on Defense Secretary Austin to expand the operation against the Houthis: "The tone of the letter - if we continue this way, soldiers will die." US intelligence fears: Russia will deliver anti-ship missiles to rebels in Yemen, as a response to aid to Ukraine
The "Wall Street Journal" reported today that the American intelligence agencies have warned against the possibility that Russia will take part in arming the Houthi rebels in Yemen with anti-ship missiles - as a response to the fact that the Biden administration is helping Ukrainian activities on Russian territory.
According to the report, this concern comes amid a letter in which US Central Command (CENTCOM) commander General Michael Korilla warned US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin that current US operations are "failing" to deter the Houthis.
He recommended, according to American officials, a "broader" approach. Kurila wrote in his letter that the entire administration must increase the effort against the Houthis - economically, diplomatically and militarily.
"The tone of this letter stunned people a bit," a US security source told the Wall Street Journal. "It says that if we continue on this path, American soldiers will die."
