The Arrow 3 air defense system is Israel’s highest defensive layer, designed to intercept large ballistic missiles, and it currently boasts an interception rate of nearly 90% — an astounding military feat.
The Arrow 3 (also known as Hetz 3) is indeed Israel's uppermost tier in its multi-layered air defense architecture, specifically designed for exo-atmospheric interception of long-range ballistic missiles (including those potentially carrying nuclear, chemical, biological, or conventional warheads).
It engages threats outside Earth's atmosphere during their midcourse phase, at altitudes well over 100 km and ranges up to approximately 2,400 km. This makes it the highest defensive layer, complementing lower systems like Arrow 2 (endo-atmospheric for shorter-range ballistic threats), David's Sling (medium-range), and Iron Dome (short-range rockets/artillery/mortars).
