In recent days, tensions on the Caribbean coasts have escalated. According to various reports, the United States has deployed more than a dozen warships and about 4,000 marines off the coast of Venezuela, officially as part of an "international anti-drug operation."
In reality, it is clear that the American eye is focused on Nicolás Maduro's regime.
Venezuela has chosen to present a unique military response: deployment of self-produced armed drones based on Iranian technology.
It all began in 2006, when Chávez signed a military-technology agreement with Tehran. What was presented as "civilian projects," bicycle and tractor factories, served as a cover for producing drones. Since then, many versions of drones and UAVs have been produced there.
