Wagner's rebellion: Prigozhin leaves a "scar" on Putin's face

Since Friday, Russia has been witnessing major tensions after the armed rebellion of the Wagner military group led by Yevgeny Prigozhin, which took control of the city of Rostov near Ukraine and announced a movement towards the capital Moscow.

Russian authorities have been preparing for a possible confrontation by deploying equipment and troops in Moscow, and President Vladimir Putin has described what Prigozhin did as a betrayal and a backstab.

The authorities of the Lipetsk region, which is about 400 kilometers from Moscow, announced that fighters from the Wagner group had entered this area.

This is after a statement by a Russian security source to Reuters, according to which Wagner's fighters took over military installations in the city of Voronezh, about 500 km south of Moscow.

But the situation may have calmed down when Prigozhin announced in an audio recording, according to Reuters, that his forces would stop advancing toward Moscow.

The office of the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, also reported that he contacted the head of the Wagner group, who agreed not to escalate the situation and to stop the movement of his forces throughout Russia.

The expert on Russian affairs, Nabil Rashvan, said that the crisis in Russia is "a problem created by the Russian president" when he created a competition between the Russian army and the head of the Wagner Group.

He added in statements to Alhora: "Frigin felt that he had achieved a great victory in Bekhmut, and signaled to Putin that he had done what the army could not do," which indicates that things did not go as he expected, and indicated that Commander Wagner expects to receive something from his pressure on Putin after his passage in Rostov, But the Russian president accused him of treason and rebellion, "so Prigozhin realized then that Putin prefers the leaders of his army over him, and then this rebellion happened."

Referring to the truce, Commander Wagner stated that his fighters had advanced to a distance of 200 kilometers from Moscow during the last 24 hours.

Varshavan continued, "There are blows that leave a scar, and what happened will undoubtedly leave a heavy impression on Putin and greatly weaken his position, internally and externally."

Political analyst Andrey Antikov, for his part, believed that Prigozhin, as a businessman, had political ambitions and with about 25,000 fighters, "he thought he could impose his terms on the Russian state, but his perception was wrong."

Is this a ploy for Russian troop movements against Ukraine and/or others?
