Fire and Rescue Spokeswoman for Israel Judea and Samaria District: Firefighters from the Yehuda regional station worked on Saturday to burn down a synagogue in Mitzpe Ziv in the southern Hebron hills, near the settlement of Ma'ale Hever
Sergeant Avi Desta Team Commander:
"A report was received at the Judea and Samaria UAV about the burning of a synagogue in Mitzpe Ziv.
Upon arrival we spotted a stone structure whose entire contents had caught fire.
We also found many tires at the site that were apparently thrown inside to create a strong combustion in the structure.
In addition, the holy books and the arrangements that were in place were damaged by the fire, the ark that was in the place was also burned, but fortunately there was no Torah scroll inside."
It should be noted that in the past, firefighters from the Yehuda regional station also operated at the site, as well as in a fire which, at the end of the investigation, was found to be an intentional arson.
A fire investigator from the Israel Fire and Rescue Service began investigating the incident together with the forensic investigators from the District of the Israel Police.
