As Trump urges Israel to step back from Lebanon and let Syrian forces handle Hezbollah, a brutal video from Suwayda shows why that idea could become a disaster for civilians.
President Donald Trump said today that Israel should step back from Lebanon and allow Syrian forces to deal with Hezbollah, arguing that they would do a better job.
But footage from Suwayda shows exactly what that could mean on the ground.
The video, reportedly filmed during the sectarian violence in Syria’s Druze heartland in July 2025, shows Syrian forces rounding up civilians before they were killed. Among the victims was Hosam Saraya, a 35-year-old Syrian-American from Oklahoma, who had returned to Syria to help his sick father. He and seven family members were reportedly marched away and executed. One clip shows Saraya’s US passport.
