Yesh Atid chair Yair Lapid said Monday that the upcoming government “will take care of every Israeli citizen,” but admitted that the formation of Israel’s next coalition was not yet guaranteed.
“There are still many obstacles until forming the intended government. Maybe it’s good because we will need to overcome them together. This is our first test. To see if we can find in the coming days smart compromises, for the greater goal,” the centrist leader added.
Lapid stipulated that “the door will be open for members of Shas and United Torah Judaism, even if they are not part of the government.”
He further stressed that if his faction would have secured 40 parliament seats, he would have chosen to establish the same government. “Right, left and center,” he said. “A unity government.”
Negotiations are currently stuck on the Agriculture and Rural Development Ministry, which is demanded by both Avigdor Lieberman’s Yisrael Beiteinu and Defense Minister Benny Gantz’s Blue and White.
