Tu Bishvat, the Jewish "new year" for trees (Monday, Feb. 2) at 11:00 a.m., a special and emotional ceremony titled “Planting for the Heroes” will take place in the moshav of Shuva, in the Gaza border region.
The event aims to plant new roots in land that has endured immense pain, loss, and bereavement. Held in cooperation with Hiburim BaHaklaut, the ceremony marks the launch of the “Forest of Revival” — a community initiative designed to offer the residents of the Gaza border area a space for hope, remembrance, and renewal.
War heroes, local residents, and volunteers from Hiburim BaHaklaut will inaugurate the planting ceremony of the Forest of Revival in Shuva.
The event will be hosted on land belonging to Dr. Gedaliah Fendel, a Shuva resident who, on October 7, opened an improvised medical treatment and triage center near his home to save and treat the wounded under fire. Taking part alongside him will be Elroi Mazaki, a fighter from the elite Duvdevan unit, who fought heroically under heavy fire at the Sderot police station, entering the building and engaging terrorists at great personal risk.
