IDF forces eliminated two armed terrorists who were moving through the Israeli buffer zone in southern Syria, about one kilometer from the Israeli border.
The incident took place near the Druze village of Khader in southern Syria. Reserve soldiers from the Etzioni Brigade, operating under Division 210, identified the two armed suspects as they moved toward Israeli territory, opened fire and eliminated them. Their bodies are now in Israeli custody.
According to the report, Israeli security officials believe the two belonged to a local terror organization operating in the area. Their exact identity is still being checked.
The incident comes after months of relative quiet on the Golan front, but it highlights the continued threat from terror cells in southern Syria. Since the fall of the Assad regime, Israel has maintained positions inside the demilitarized zone and security strips in southern Syria in order to prevent infiltrations and protect the communities of the Golan Heights.
