To a large extent, this is also the situation of terrorist Israel-hating Islamic “resistance.”
Since the end of the 1973 war, in which Israel repelled a coordinated surprise attack by Egypt and Syria and ended the fighting with IDF forces across the Suez Canal and on an open road to Damascus, the Arab and Islamic strategy toward Israel has fundamentally changed. Direct confrontation failed. Conventional armies failed. And so, the tactic shifted to terrorism by proxy.
