A 35-year-old man from Hackney admitted in court that he threatened to kill Jewish schoolchildren, in another alarming case of open antisemitic intimidation in Britain.
Mohamed Ullah appeared at Wood Green Crown Court after making the threat on February 13. He pleaded guilty to making a threat to kill and to racially aggravated harassment.
Ullah also admitted damaging a water dispenser and causing a flood at Homerton Hospital in Hackney on the same day. Reporting restrictions were lifted after he also pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman, while prosecutors dropped two other assault charges.
The court ordered a dangerousness assessment before sentencing, which is scheduled for August 5. The case again raises serious questions about the security of Jewish communities in the UK, where Jewish children, schools and families remain repeated targets of threats and hatred.
