According to various reports, Saudi Arabia has in recent days arrested at least six Shia clerics in the Eastern Province, including Hassan al-Yousef, Abd al-Jalil al-Samin, Hassan al-Haddad, and Hussein al-Nashmi. 

So far, no official statement has been released by Saudi Arabia confirming the arrests or explaining their cause.

Is there a direct influence of the Gulf War on these events? It is difficult to determine with certainty, but the context cannot be ignored.
