Hamas is facing a new challenge in the northern Gaza Strip after the Popular Forces militia, led by Ashraf al-Mansi, announced that it had captured Beit Lahia from Hamas.
According to the militia’s statement, its men now control the part of Beit Lahia located beyond the yellow line — an area that, under the Trump plan, was supposedly meant to remain under Hamas control.
The group is also publishing videos showing armed men moving freely inside Beit Lahia, including in areas that still appear relatively built-up and have not been flattened by IDF engineering operations.
If accurate, this is a serious blow to Hamas. Beit Lahia is not a symbolic village on the edge of the map. It is part of the northern Gaza arena, where Hamas has long tried to preserve its grip through fear, armed patrols, executions, and intimidation.
