During a pursuit and targeted searches conducted by IDF fighters from the Ephraim Brigade under the direction of the Shin Bet last week (Saturday), in the village of Brokin, near the scene of the attack, a terrorist was identified running towards the forces while holding a bag suspected of being a booby trap and calling out to them. Faced with an immediate threat, the fighters eliminated the terrorist. There were no casualties among our forces.
Following an intelligence investigation by the Shin Bet, the IDF, and the Shia District of the police, it was determined that Nael Samara, the eliminated terrorist, carried out the shooting attack near the settlement of Baruchin on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, in which the late Tsala Gaz was murdered.
The terrorist Nael Samara, who served a prison sentence for his activities in the Hamas terrorist organization, was released in 2010 and imprisoned again for several days in 2019 for incitement online.
In the bag carried by the terrorist, an 'M-16' rifle and other weapons that were used to carry out the attack were found. Investigators from the Shia District of the police collected the findings to locate additional accomplices.
