Today on Yom Hazikaron we honor St-Sgt. Ido Baruch (21), of Gadera, a soldier in the Givati Reconnaissance Unit, was killed ( 11 October 2022) while on duty at the Ganot Interchange, securing the Jews living in the area.)
The attack was carried out near the settlement of Shavei Shomron in northern Samaria. He was on post at a fortified military checkpoint at the Ganot Interchange when a car sped by and opened fire. Baruch was wounded and rushed to Meir Hospital in Kfar Saba, where his condition was reported as serious.
His condition deteriorated after his arrival, and he succumbed to his wounds. His family decided to donate his corneas for transplant gifting sight to multiple people.
We commemorate today soldiers like Ido and all those who were killed protecting Israel from its enemies.
