The United Arab Emirates has signed a large-scale defense procurement agreement with Embraer to acquire up to 20 military transport aircraft, marking a significant boost to its logistical and airlift capabilities.
The deal centers on the Embraer C-390 Millennium, a modern multi-mission transport aircraft designed for rapid deployment, cargo transport, troop movement, and humanitarian operations. The platform is also capable of aerial refueling and operating from short and semi-prepared runways.
Strategic significance
This agreement represents a major milestone for Brazil’s defense industry, as it is the largest single order ever placed by one country for this aircraft model. It further strengthens Embraer’s position as a growing competitor in the global military aviation market.
For the UAE, the purchase is expected to significantly enhance operational flexibility, enabling faster deployment of forces and equipment across the Middle East and beyond. It also aligns with the country’s broader strategy of diversifying defense partnerships and modernizing its military infrastructure.
