The Sa'ar 6-class missile corvette Atzmaut arrived yesterday (Tuesday) in Israel. The ship docked at the Navy's base in Haifa after a voyage of about two weeks
A ceremony marking the arrival of the INS Atzmaut from Germany was held in the presence of the President of Israel, Isaac Herzog, and the Commander of the Israeli Navy, Vice Admiral Eli Sharvit, with the attendance of sailors from the Atzmaut, who returned to Israel with the ship after a long stay at the shipyard in Germany.
The INS Atzmaut is the third out of four Sa'ar 6-class corvettes that will join the Israeli Navy. Its arrival marks a significant milestone in the strengthening of the resilience of the State of Israel. The ships will be a main part of the network for defense of the State of Israel's economic waters and offshore energy resources. During the coming months, after the completion of the process for installation of weapon systems on the ship at the Navy's shipyard in Haifa, the ship will become operational.
President of Israel Isaac Herzog said "In recent weeks, we witnessed Iran's attempt to strike Israeli targets in the maritime domain. This is not just an Israeli matter. The whole world saw the results of Iran's aggression against innocent, non-involved civilians. Just last weekend we again saw the activities of Iran and its proxies on the northern border."
The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Eli Sharvit, said, "The INS Atzmaut entered the gates of Haifa port today, and like its two sister ships from the Sa'ar 6 series, expresses the power of the Israeli Navy and substantially contributes to the security of the State of Israel. This is a day of celebration for us, and besides the pride and the confidence, this is a day we assume a great responsibility, and I am confident we will bear it well."
