As President Donald Trump applauds Qatar as a trusted American ally, a Qatari-aligned television network highlighted a historic US military defeat and images of demonstrators dancing over an American flag.
Trump recently praised Qatar after taking the newly refurbished Qatari-provided presidential aircraft on its first flight. He described the plane as an extraordinary contribution and called Qatar a country that has treated the United States well.
Yet Qatar’s Al-Araby TV chose the same period to broadcast a report marking the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Little Bighorn, where Native American warriors defeated US forces commanded by George Armstrong Custer.
The report emphasized that the ceremony celebrated “America’s defeat” and showed participants dancing and jumping over an old American flag placed on the ground. It presented the battle as a symbol of resistance and unity against the US government.
