The words were said during the session of the UN Security Council held yesterday, Thursday, regarding the chemical weapons of the Syrian regime, without the participation of Russia and China.

Nakamitsu noted that although the Syrian regime agreed to address issues related to chemical weapons, the technical secretariat has yet to receive declarations or other required documents, and sent a small team consisting of several members to Syria to carry out limited activities within the country.

She emphasized "the necessity of the Syrian regime's full cooperation to close all the problematic issues", and emphasized that so far "the Syrian regime's announcement regarding its chemical weapons cannot be considered 'accurate and complete' in accordance with the Chemical Weapons Convention".

The UN representative called on the members of the council to "unite on this issue, demonstrate leadership on this issue, and show that the organization will not tolerate evasion on the issue and that Syria will not be exempt from punishment following the use of chemical weapons."
