During an operation in the area, Israeli police officers noticed a suspicious vehicle and signaled it to stop. The vehicle began to flee and during the chase, a Carlo (submachine gun)- type weapon was thrown from the vehicle. The suspect was arrested and his detention was extended.
The Israel Police is constantly and proactively working to seize weapons of all kinds and prosecute these criminals.
As part of the fight against crime in the Arab sector this week, northern district police officers seized many weapons among themselves: In a quick response to a shooting incident in the village of Kanna, many forces were escorted by helicopter and during searches 3 Kalashnikov weapons, 16 guns, a pistol and the vehicle from which the shooting took place. A search warrant was issued at a warehouse near a house in Peki'in, during which a shotgun was seized. Three standard explosives were seized during a search conducted in Nazareth. The Nazareth police witnessed a suspect who had thrown a Glock pistol, the suspect was arrested.
A search of Meged al-Krum turned up an FN pistol and a cartridge. From the beginning of the year until today, during a period of only about 9 months in the Northern District over 1000 different weapons were seized among them: 437 rifles and pistols. 204 grenades. 59 explosives, 12 to build sabotage. 399 Molotov cocktails. 411 fireworks. 223 Airsoft weapons. Since the beginning of the year in the Northern District, 273 indictments and requests for detention have been filed against 273 suspects until the end of the proceedings for weapons offenses. Weapons seized today will not kill tomorrow - locating and seizing illegal weapons found in Arab localities is a top priority task of the Northern District Police of the Israel Police. The district police officers work continuously, openly, and covertly to obtain information about the weapons and the danger to their lives, listening for the sound of gunfire, checking suspicious people and engaging anyone deemed neccessary.
